Your credit report and credit score are part of the information a lender considers. They do not replace an affordability assessment, and no single score guarantees approval.
Understand the information being assessed
Credit information may include account and repayment history. Lenders also consider income, expenses, existing commitments and their lending criteria. Different lenders and credit bureaus may use different scoring methods.
Check errors rather than borrowing to change a score
If information in your credit report appears incorrect, raise it with the relevant credit bureau and provide supporting documents. Taking a loan solely to improve a score adds repayment obligations and does not guarantee a higher score or access to future credit.
Manage repayments and ask for help
Keep track of due dates and agreed repayments. Late or missed payments may affect your credit record. If your circumstances change, contact your credit provider promptly to discuss the situation. A discussion does not automatically change the agreement.
How MBC assesses an application
New and repeat applications are subject to affordability assessment, credit checks and approval. Your repayment history is considered, but repeat credit is not guaranteed. Use Secure MBC Support for questions about your application.
